# Glossary The words the panel uses, in plain English. Each one links to the page where it matters. ### Admin panel Your website's control room. It is where you change what the public sees, and only people you invite can get in. See [The admin panel](/start-here/admin-panel/). ### Album A set of photos shown together on your **Gallery** page, such as one job or one year. See [Gallery](/content/gallery/). ### Alt text A short line that says what is in a picture. It is read out to people who cannot see the picture, and search engines read it too. See [Media](/content/media/). ### Archive Puts a lead out of the way without deleting it. It moves to the **Archived** list, and you can bring it back. See [Leads](/plugins/leads/). ### Block A ready made strip of a page: a big headline, a row of service cards, a set of photos. You fill in a short form and the block builds the layout. See [Pages](/content/pages/). ### Byline A "written by" credit. Your website never shows one, so the **Bylines** panel on your edit screens can stay empty. See [Bylines](/manage/bylines/). ### Caption A short line printed under a photo in an album. It is also used as the description if the file has no alt text of its own. See [Gallery](/content/gallery/). ### Content type One kind of entry, such as a service or a review. It decides which boxes you see when you open an entry. See [Content Types](/admin/content-types/). ### CSV A file of rows and columns that opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. It is how you get your leads out of the panel. See [Leads](/plugins/leads/). ### Draft An entry that is not on your website. Only people who can sign in to the panel can see a draft. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Entry One item in one of your lists: one service, one review, one page. You open an entry to edit it. See [The admin panel](/start-here/admin-panel/). ### Favicon The tiny picture in a browser tab. Your website does not use one, so leave the **Select Favicon** box alone. See [Settings](/admin/settings/). ### Featured A switch on some entries. On its own it does nothing. It only matters when a block is set to show featured items only. See [Services](/content/services/). ### Hero The big band at the top of a page: a photo or a video, with your headline and buttons on top. See [Showcase Heroes](/plugins/showcase-heroes/). ### Lead A message from a customer, sent through your contact form or your quote form. Every one of them lands in your inbox in the panel. See [Leads](/plugins/leads/). ### Live View A button that opens the entry you are editing on your live website, so you can see what a visitor sees. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Media library The one place every photo and file you upload is kept. Upload a photo once, then use it on as many pages as you like. See [Media](/content/media/). ### Menu Two different things carry this name. **Manage**, then **Menus**, is the row of links across the top of your website, plus your footer links. See [Menus](/manage/menus/). **Content**, then **Menus (Food)**, is a food menu with dishes and prices. See [Menus (Food)](/content/menus-food/). ### One-of-a-kind entry A screen that holds exactly one entry, because your business only has one: one address, one set of hours. You never use **Add New** there. See [The admin panel](/start-here/admin-panel/). ### Page not found The screen a visitor gets when they ask for an address your website does not have. It is also called a 404. See [Redirects](/manage/redirects/). ### Palette The set of colors used across your whole website. There are seventeen to pick from, and picking one changes every page at once. See every one, light and dark, on [Step 3: Choose your colors](/setup/choose-your-colors/), and the steps to change it on [Plugins](/admin/plugins/). ### Passkey Your device standing in for a password. Your fingerprint, your face or your device PIN unlocks it, and there is nothing to type or forget. See [Signing in](/start-here/signing-in/). ### Pending changes A yellow tag meaning you have edited a published entry but not published the edit. The public still sees the old version. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Plugin One extra feature built into your website, such as your lead inbox or your photo folders. Every site gets its own set. See [Plugins](/admin/plugins/). ### Publish Puts your saved work on the live website, right away. It is a separate step from saving. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Redirect A signpost at an old web address that sends anyone who lands there to a new one. Visitors never notice it happen. See [Redirects](/manage/redirects/). ### Revision A copy of what an entry said before you changed it. The panel keeps them, so you can look up old wording or put it back. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Role What somebody is allowed to do in the panel. There are five, from **Subscriber** who can only look, to **Admin** who can do everything. See [Users](/admin/users/). ### Section Two different things carry this name. **Manage**, then **Sections**, is a saved lump of text you can drop into any page. See [Sections](/manage/sections/). On a food menu, a section is a group of dishes under one heading. See [Menu Sections (Food)](/content/menu-sections-food/). ### Service area Your list of the towns you work in. It shows in the footer of every page. See [Service Area](/content/service-area/). ### Service area page A whole page about one town, with its own address, its own photo and its own words. That is a different thing from the list above. See [Service Area Pages](/content/service-area-pages/). ### Slug The last part of an entry's web address, such as `kitchen-remodels`. Set it once, while the entry is new, then leave it alone. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Sort order A box that sets which entry comes first. The lowest number goes first, and an empty box counts as zero. See [Services](/content/services/). ### Spam A lead that looks like it came from a robot. It is kept and flagged, no email goes out for it, and it is thrown away after 30 days. See [Leads](/plugins/leads/). ### Submission A reply to a form you built yourself. Those land under **Submissions**, not in your leads inbox. See [Form Designer](/plugins/form-designer/). ### Tag A short label. The ones you put on a lead are real and useful. The **Tags** screen under **Manage** is a different thing, and your website does not use it. See [Tags](/manage/tags/). ### Testimonial One customer quote. You write it once, and it shows on every page that has a Testimonials block. See [Testimonials](/content/testimonials/). ### Trash Where an entry waits after you move it there. It is a junk drawer, not a shredder, and you can take things back out. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Unpublish Takes an entry off your website and keeps it, word for word. Publishing puts it back. See [Saving and publishing](/start-here/saving-and-publishing/). ### Version number The number in the bottom left corner of the panel. Send it to us when you ask for help. See [Getting support](/help/getting-support/). Your website carries a second number, in its footer. See [Is this manual for my site?](/help/is-this-manual-for-my-site/). ### Widget A small box for a sidebar. Your website has no sidebars, so the **Widgets** screen changes nothing a visitor can see.
