# Bylines

You will rarely need this page.

A byline is a "written by" credit. In EmDash, this screen holds the list of
people who can be credited on a piece of content.

**Nothing on your website shows a byline.** Your pages carry your business
name, not an author's name. Add a byline here, put it on a page, publish the
page, and the page looks exactly the same to a visitor.

Go to **Manage**, then **Bylines**, to see the list. On this website it is
empty, and there is no reason to fill it.

## The panel on your edit screens

Open any page or service and look down the right hand side. There is a
**Bylines** panel there, reading **No bylines selected**, with a **Quick create
byline** button under it.

Ignore both. They belong to the same unused feature. Leaving that panel empty
is correct, and nothing is missing from your website because of it.

**Ownership**, just above it, is the same story. It says who in your team the
entry belongs to, and no visitor ever sees it.

Contact us if you want a name and photo credited on part of your website, such
as a staff page. That is a change to how your site is built, not something
this screen can do.

Email [support@lookoutridgeit.com](mailto:support@lookoutridgeit.com).
[Getting support](/help/getting-support/) says what to put in the message.
