# Email Transport

If you do not see this in your menu, your website does not use it.

This is the one screen you should not need. It is where your website's outgoing
email is set up: the [lead](/plugins/leads/) alerts you get, and the short reply
your customer gets when they write to you.

We set this up when your website was built, and it has been working ever since.

Go to **Plugins**, then **Email Transport**.

## What the boxes mean

![The Email Transport form. Email Provider reads lettermint. From Address holds an email address, From Name holds a business name, and the Lettermint API Token box shows dots instead of a value. A Save button sits at the bottom.](../../../assets/screenshots/email-transport.png)

*Your screen may show a different set of boxes. That depends on the company
that carries your mail.*

**Email Provider** is the company that carries your mail. Think of it as the
post office your website hands letters to.

**From Address** is the address your emails are sent from. It is what a
customer sees in the From line.

**From Name** is the name next to it, usually your business name.

The last box is a key. It is what proves to the post office that the letters
are really from you. Your website never shows it back to you, so it reads as a
row of dots.

There is no button here that sends a test email. Nothing on this screen sends
anything.

## Leave it alone

:::caution[Warning]
Change anything on this screen and your website may stop being able to send
email at all.

There is no error message when that happens. Inquiries keep arriving in
[Leads](/plugins/leads/), but the emails about them stop, and you find out days
later when you notice how quiet it has been.

Nothing here has to be kept up to date. Read it if you like. Do not save it.
